Kaltura MediaSpace Go: Quick Start Guide for Android and Google Phones

NOTE: When looking for the app in the Google Play Store you may come across an app called Kaltura MediaSpace. This app is outdated. Be sure to download the Kaltura MediaSpace Go app instead.

Access PSU MediaSpace

1. On the opening screen, tap Enter URL of your site. 
2. Enter psu.mediaspace.kaltura.com.
3. Tap Go on your phone’s keyboard.
    

Log In

1. Tap the My Page iconin the upper right corner.
2. Tap Login.
3. Tap Standard Access Account.
4. Complete WebAccess Login.
   NOTE: You may be taken away from the app to complete your login using DUO or another secondary authentication. When you return to the app after authenticating your login, you will be logged in to Kaltura MediaSpace.
    

Record Media

During the recording steps, you may be asked to allow Kaltura to access your photos, camera, microphone, or files depending on the task you are attempting to complete. You must grant the app access to complete your task.

1. Tap Uploadin the lower right corner of the home screen.
2. Select Videofrom the pop-up list.
3. Select Camcorder from the pop-up list.
4. Tap your phone camera’s Record button.
5. Record your video and press the Stop button.
6. Tap the Check Mark icon in the lower right corner.
   NOTE: Some phones display “Cancel” and “OK” in the lower right for this step. If this is the case with your phone, tap OK.
7. Trim the beginning and end of your video if desired by moving the dark blue rectangles on either side of the timeline at the bottom of the screen.
8. Tap Next in the upper right corner.
9. Enter a title for your video.
10. Tap Upload in the upper right corner.
11. A message pops up that says your video was uploaded successfully and asks if you would like to publish now. Make your selection and then you’re set!
     

Upload Existing Media

During the uploading steps, you may be asked to allow Kaltura to access your photos, camera, microphone, or files depending on the task you are attempting to complete. You must grant the app access to complete your task.

1. Tap Uploadin the lower right corner of the home screen.
2. Select the type of media you wish to upload (Video, Picture, or Audio).
3. Select the location of your desired media from the pop-up menu.
   NOTE: The location options will vary depending on the apps you have installed on your phone.
4. Select the media you wish to upload.
5. Tap Next in the upper right corner.
   NOTE: Some phones may skip step 5.
6. Enter a title for your media.
7. Tap Upload in the upper right corner.
8. A message pops up that says your video was uploaded successfully and asks if you would like to publish now. Make your selection and then you’re set!
    

View Your Media

1. From the app home screen tap the My Page iconin the upper right corner.
2. From your media page, select the location of the media you want to view: My Media, My Downloads, or My History.
   NOTE: You may have to scroll down to see some of these locations.
3. Scroll to the media you wish to view and tap the media item.
4. The media player will launch.
    

Delete Media

1. From the app home screen tap the My Page iconin the upper right corner.
2. From your media page, select the location of the media you want to delete: My Media, My Downloads, or My History.
   NOTE: You may have to scroll down to see some of these locations.
3. Scroll to the media you wish to delete and tap to view.
4. The media player will launch.
5. Tap the 3 dotsin the lower right corner.
6. Tap Edit Entry.
7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap the red Delete Media button.
8. Tap Yes to delete the media item.
    

Publish Media

1. From the app home screen, tap the My Page iconin the upper right corner.
2. From your page, select My Media.
3. Scroll to the video you wish to publish and tap the media.
4. The media player will launch.
5. Tap the 3 dotsin the lower right of the screen.
6. Tap Edit Entry from the pop-up menu.
7. Scroll down and tap the desired publishing setting.
8. Tap Update in the upper right corner.
   NOTE: If you select Public, you will be taken to a screen to select a channel or category. Make your selections and tap Publish in the upper right corner.
    

Browse and Search

1. From the app home screen, tap the Explore iconin the top menu.
2. Type your search term(s) into the Search field or tap a channel to browse.
   NOTE: Only public videos are searchable using this feature.
    

Inspire Me

Inspire Me is a function for those times when you need a little inspiration for your next video, or you have some time to kill. Simply provide Kaltura MediaSpace Go (KMSGo) with the amount of time you have to spend, and KMSGo will provide you with a randomly selected video to watch.

1. From the app home screen, tap the Inspire Me iconin the top menu.
2. Select how much time you have (the length of video you have time to watch) by swiping your finger across the screen.
3. Tap Let’s go!
4. Kaltura will select a random video from a PSU public channel for you to watch.
    

Share Your Media

1. From the app home screen, click the My Page iconin the upper left corner. 
2. From your page, select My Media.
3. Scroll to the media you wish to share and tap the media.
4. The media player will launch.
5. Tap the 3 dotsin the lower right of the screen.
6. Tap Share.
7. Select how you would like to share your media item (ex: Text Message, Email) from the pop-up menu.
    

Save Media to Watch Later

In Kaltura MediaSpace Go (KMSGo) you can save media to a playlist to watch later, similar to the YouTube “Watch Later” option. However, KMSGo refers to this as “Download”, which may be confusing.  Unfortunately, you are not able to actually download media from KMSGo to your phone or to view offline. Selecting to download media will only save it to a playlist called “My Downloads” on your media page.

1. From the media player of the video you wish to save, tap the 3 dotsin the lower right corner.
2. Tap Download Media in the pop-up menu.
   NOTE: You cannot download YouTube entries.
3. The video will be saved to your My Downloads list on your page.
4. Tap Close in the lower right to exit the pop-up menu.
5. To access your My Downloads list, tap the My Page iconin the upper right corner.
   NOTE: The videos will be removed from the My Downloads list after viewing.
