Excel: Data Management

In this hands-on workshop, participants will become familiar with the basic tools for data management in Microsoft Excel. Participants learn how to import, extract, and manipulate spreadsheet data. Participants will also use some of Excel’s tools to work more efficiently, including data validation, PivotTables, and PivotCharts. 

Objectives

  • Explore ways to import data from external sources into Excel for analysis 
  • Specify criteria to control data entered into a worksheet 
  • Create pivot tables to explore, analyze, and summarize data sets

When integrated with Canvas, instructors can also seamlessly synchronize rosters and grades. Top Hat utilizes no separate hardware but rather asks students to use their smartphones, tablets, laptops, or ordinary cell phones to participate in activities.
